Do you believe our loved ones visit in our dreams after they’re gone? I do.
It doesn’t matter what religion you follow, or the beliefs you hold about life and death, most of us in our lives have experienced something that you just cannot explain.
So, I don’t know what you believe in but I believe my Nonna (Grandma for those non-Italians) came to visit me in my dreams.
Now I’ve always had imaginative dreams. They often include famous people, from Kim Kardashian to Dave Grohl, I have met them all.
But this experience was something special and I knew it in that very moment I saw her in my dream.
Why do we dream?
A great article written by Jason Ellis, Professor of Sleep Science at Northumbria University in Newcastle talks about two theories of dreams.
Evolutionary theory suggests a sense of coping with stress and anxiety during a tough time. Whereas memory consolidation theory, is as its name suggests, to help store information taken in during the day.
What links the both together, is the idea that we dream more during times of stress as there is more information to consolidate.
